body as in '66, but the rearend lost the chrome around edges and the tailights were 8 slots, 4
on each side. In the front, the grille got a polished aluminum mesh, and chrome covered the whole "baseline" of the car. |

| The GTO was finally available with front Disc
brakes and the Rally II wheel was introduced along with the popular hood tach. The
389 was bored, resulting in a new displacement of 400 cu.in. and an output of 335 hp with
the standard 4 - barrel. Hottest option was the HO engine, giving 360 HP, and you could
add about 10 more if you chose the Ram Air option, which worked together with the hood
scoop. Not only was the displacement changed, but the heads
got a new, better design. |
