| The GTO got a new
frame and a new body, 6" shorter than '67. Instead of the vertical lights upfront,
there was the impact-absorbing Endura bumper which was color-matched to the body paint.
Adding the optional concealed headlights, the GTO got a really clean look. A few GTO's had the LeMans chrome front bumper, an endura delete option. |

| The coupe model was dropped,
leaving the Hardtop and Convertible. The hood tach was a factory option, in '67 it was a
dealer installed option. Dual hood scoops (much like the ones in '64) replaced the single one. Engines where pretty much the same as in '67, but halfway into the production year, the Ram Air II was introduced. As usual, PMD underestimated HP figures. Pontiac advertised the RAII at 370 HP, but a more accurate number would be in the 400+ range. |
